Milford, MA (January 15, 2009)—Brine, an industry leader in creating innovative soccer, lacrosse, field hockey and volleyball gear, has signed an agreement with Extreme Volleyball Professionals to be the official volleyball of the EVP Tour for the next three years. The EVP Tour is the largest beach volleyball tour in the United States.

“We are really excited to re-launch our entire line of indoor and outdoor volleyballs, nets, net systems and accessories this year. We will introduce our highest end ball, the Brine BV1000, to the market through our partnership with the EVP Tour as the official ball”, said Brine’s Volleyball Brand Manager, Sean Kelly. “This is the first graphically-driven, high-end outdoor volleyball, and it will make its debut on the national, regional and local levels as the official ball of the EVP Tour, City vs. City Series and Barvolleyball, respectively.”

The official EVP Tour ball was created with performance technologies. Its cover material is top-of-the-line composite leather which provides for a superb touch. The ball is also made with a specialized natural rubber bladder that Brine first debuted in its official NCAA soccer ball over twenty years ago. This unique bladder is now being introduced to the volleyball world for the first time, and it will help take the edge off of hard-driven balls for increased playability.

“I am thrilled to have Brine as an official sponsor of the EVP Tour”, said Ross Balling, President EVP Tour. “We are proud of the partnership that will deliver quality Brine volleyball equipment to our players, tournament directors and network members. The BV1000 is made of the best materials, and it will certainly make an impact to enhance our tour.”

The official EVP Tour ball, the Brine BV1000, will hit the shelves early this spring. Brine’s entire volleyball line will be available at retail in June. For more information on Brine, visit www.brine.com. For information on the EVP Tour, visit www.evptour.com.

“Brine designed the FOJ women’s lacrosse handle with Jaclyn’s strength, courage, relentless spirit, and joy for life in mind. The handle comes in either pink or yellow and bears a repeating pattern of the FOJ logo,” said Jenny Levy, Brine’s Women’s Lacrosse Brand Manager. “We are honored to be associated with Jaclyn and are pleased to donate 5% of all proceeds to her Foundation.”

Jaclyn’s family started the charitable organization, Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, to raise public awareness about pediatric brain tumors. In 2005, Jaclyn was adopted by the Northwestern women’s lacrosse team, a Brine sponsored program and four-time Division I Champion. Since then, the Foundation has established an adoption program, which currently pairs over fifty children with collegiate and high school teams throughout seventeen different sports.

“We feel so proud to show the Friends of Jaclyn logo and have it close to us when we play every single day to remind us how special the Foundation is,” said Northwestern Women’s Lacrosse Coach Kelly Amonte-Hiller. “The new handle is great and we want to thank Brine for their support of the Foundation.”

“Brine gives new meaning to the word hope,” said Denis Murphy, Jaclyn’s Dad and Founder of the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation. “The incredible FOJ handle is a gift to the pediatric brain tumor community and will help raise awareness about such an insidious disease. The impact that Brine will have on children afflicted with brain tumors and their families cannot be measured. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

August 11, 2008 Milford, MA:: Brine has announced that current United States Field Hockey Olympian, Keli Smith, has partnered with the company as an endorsed athlete. As an endorsed athlete, Smith will represent Brine at various field hockey events throughout the country as well as be the main asset in its future advertising and marketing. Smith will also work closely with the Brine Research and Development team to develop field hockey products.

Keli Smith graduated from the University of Maryland in 2001 where she was a member of the 1999 NCAA Division I national championship team. During her collegiate career, she was a four-year standout and three-time All-American, including first team honors her senior year. In 2002, Smith was named to the ACC 50th Anniversary team. She has been a member of the United States national team since 1998, and has participated in several international competitions, including the 2002 and 2006 World Cups and 2003 and 2007 Pan American Games. Smith now has over 100 international caps and marked her Olympic debut at the 2008 Summer Games this past weekend in Beijing.

“It is great to finally be in Beijing and I look forward to representing my country and standing next to my teammates as we raise the American flag. I would like to thank Brine, as I am excited to be playing with Brine sticks here in China and wherever the game takes me throughout the world. As field hockey continues to evolve, the technology of sticks also needs to adapt and Brine has done just that.”

Milford, MA, September 10, 2007–Brine Corp has announced today that it has renewed its contract with Kevin Cassese as a member of the Brine Pro Player R&D Team. Brine Corp also announced that it has signed an official equipment supplier agreement with the Lehigh University Mountain Hawks Men’s Lacrosse Team, where Cassese holds the position as the head men’s lacrosse coach. Brine will supply the Mountain Hawks with lacrosse heads, helmets and protective gear through the 2009 season.

Kevin Cassese, a former two-time All-American, three-time ACC selection and two-time captain at Duke University, has been a member of Brine’s Pro Player R&D team since graduation from there in 2003. The Brine Pro Player R&D Team is an elite group of lacrosse players who are driving Brine’s research and development program. As a member of the R&D Team Cassese works closely with the men’s lacrosse category brand managers, improving on the offensive and defensive lines of lacrosse equipment, as well as lacrosse apparel and footwear. Cassese also represents Brine at various grassroots events across the country.

I have had a relationship with Brine on many levels throughout my lacrosse career. I have been using Brine gear throughout my high school, collegiate, professional and coaching careers.” said Cassese. “Every NCAA Division I team that I have been affiliated with as a player and coach, Duke University and Stony Brook University, has used Brine gear. I wanted to ensure that the players at Lehigh University would also be playing with the best quality product on the market.”

Prior to being named the head coach at Lehigh, Cassese served as an assistant at his alma mater since 2005, helping lead the Blue Devils to an appearance in the 2007 NCAA Division I championship game. He also served as Duke’s interim head coach for part of the summer of 2006. Prior to Duke, Cassese spent one season at Stony Brook as an assistant where he directed the nation’s top extra man offense and helped the Seawolves to a 10-6 record in 2004.

“We are looking forward to many great years ahead in our relationship with Coach Cassese as a member of the Brine Pro Player R&D team and as the head coach at Lehigh,” said Brine’s General Manager Dale Kohler. “We are proud to have Kevin in the Brine family. He has had great success as a player and a coach, recently taking home the Major League Lacrosse Championship with the Philadelphia Barrage and leading the Duke Blue Devils to an NCAA championship appearance this past season. He has been a great inspiration to everyone in the lacrosse community.”

Boston, MA (March 21, 2007); The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) announced today they have acquired attackman Mike Powell from the Washington Bayhawks. In addition, Boston received midfielder Ben DeFelice and a conditional 2008 Collegiate Draft choice. In exchange, the Cannons sent attackman Conor Gill and defenseman Ryan Curtis to Washington.

Powell returns to lacrosse action after a one year absence. He exploded onto the MLL scene in 2005 scoring 27 goals and dishing out 17 assists for 44 total points. Along with Gary Gait and Tom Marechek, Powell helped comprise what many believed to be the greatest attack line in lacrosse history. Powell helped lead the Bayhawks to the 2005 MLL Championship.

“Mike Powell is the complete package,” said Bill Daye, Cannons Head Coach. “We are thrilled to have Mike in Boston. He has as much talent as anyone in the game today and is second to none in terms of star power. We couldn’t ask for a better player for the Cannons organization both on and off the field.”

In addition to a standout first MLL season Powell is one of the sport’s most decorated athletes at both the collegiate and international level.

A 2004 Syracuse graduate, Powell won two National Championships with the Orange and was the tournament MVP in both of those seasons. He finished with school record 307 points, good for second on the NCAA’s all-time list. Powell is the only two-time Tewaaraton Trophy winner, awarded to the country’s best player.

He is just the fourth NCAA lacrosse player to be named a first team All-American in each of his four seasons. He is the only NCAA lacrosse player to be named National Attackman of the Year four times.

Powell was a member of the 2002 and 2006 United States Men’s National Teams. He led the U.S. team in points at both Word Championship tournaments.

In addition to his vast talent, Powell is lacrosse’s most recognizable star. A tireless promoter of the sport Powell appears across the country spreading the game. He will be an instant hit with Boston Cannons fans.

“As an organization, the chance to acquire Mike Powell was impossible to pass up,” said Jason Chandler, Cannons General Manager. “Our great fans will be treated to one of the game’s biggest stars this summer. Mike is an incredible talent. I think our fan base will relish the opportunity to watch Mike in a Cannons uniform.”

Powell is employed by Brine Inc., a Boston based company and an official equipment supplier of the MLL.

In addition to Powell the Cannons acquired midfielder Ben DeFelice. The Towson graduate has been in the MLL since 2004. He was drafted by Philadelphia and played with the Bayhawks in 2005 and 2006. DeFelice will play a multi-faceted roll for the Cannons.

“Ben DeFelice is an important acquisition for us,” said Daye. “He is a very solid, versatile midfielder. He can play defense, get our transition started and spell Dave Jenkins facing off.”

In trading Conor Gill the Cannons move the franchise’s most productive player. Gill has led the MLL in assists each of the past four seasons, averaged close to 60 points per season with the Cannons since his arrival in 2002 and has been named to the league’s All-MLL team twice. In addition Gill was the MLL’s MVP in 2004 and led the league in points in 2004 and 2006.

“Trading Conor was a difficult decision, not something we entered into lightly,” said Daye. “Conor is one of the league’s premier players. We appreciate everything Conor has done for the Cannons organization. This trade puts Conor close to home. I’m sure he’ll do an outstanding job for the Bayhawks.”

“In the end we felt this was the right decision for our organization as we look towards the future,” continued Daye.

A 2002 University of Virginia graduate, Gill was drafted by the Cannons in the first round. He was named the MLL’s Rookie of the Year in 2002. Gill has been in All-Star four times.

“Conor Gill has been our team’s best player since he was drafted in 2002,” said Chandler. “He will go down as one of the Cannons all-time greats. Our ownership, our coaches and our staff thank Conor for all of his contributions. He will truly be missed. We wish him all the best in Washington. The Bayhawks are getting a great player.”

The Cannons will also part ways with Ryan Curtis, though Curtis is not expected to play in 2007 due to his commitments as head coach of the University of Vermont Men’s Lacrosse team. Curtis is one of the Cannons three original assigned players. In six years with the Cannons he missed only two games. He was the Cannons team captain for the last three seasons and was named the MLL’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2003.

“The Cannons could not have asked for a better captain,” said Chandler. “Whether he elects to play again or not, Ryan will be remembered as an original Cannon, someone who never missed a game or practice and was a leader on our team from day one. I’m not sure we can ever replace a Ryan Curtis.”

Curtis is a three-time MLL All-Star and four-time Cannons team Defensive Player of the Year. He was named head coach at Vermont in September 2006.

“It was a pleasure to both play and coach with Ryan,” said Daye. “He’s a tremendous player and a great leader. He’ll be missed but he will always have a place here with the Cannons.”

The Cannons open their 2007 season at Washington on May 12. Boston’s home opener is Saturday May 19. The first time the Cannons play the Bayhawks at home is on Friday June 15.

Training camp for the Boston Cannons begins on April 21 at Harvard University.
